Review on 🐱 Optimized Dr. Elsey's Cat Food by Ana Nguyen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hands down the best naturally balanced cat food on the market today.

The first thing you need to know about cat food is that cats are 'obligatory' carnivores - meaning that their diet consists almost entirely of meat. Cats do not naturally eat corn, brown rice, beans, lentils, peas, blueberries or potatoes. At least I've never heard of them unless you feed these things in cat food. They eat small rodents, birds and anything else they can catch consisting of protein, water and fat. Here's what I love about this cat food: 1. If you look at the ingredients you'll see that in addition to the added supplements they get a good thing called animal protein. No carbs or fillers. Almost all proteins are of animal origin. 2. My cat LOVES this food. I moved her over a year ago and she still loves it. I understand that this food is a bit pricey just looking at the price per pound, but considering it's highly concentrated it really isn't that expensive. She is about 12 pounds. (moderately large kitten). I feed her 3/8 cup a day which means 1 6.6 lb bag will last her 8 weeks which is about $0.75 a day. I think I can afford it. I only feed them once a day in the morning. She is quite independent and will nibble on it in the morning and finish her meal before the lights go out. I monitored her water intake, which is enough for her to urinate regularly in large portions several times a day, so she needs to flush her kidneys. She is healthy, she has an excellent coat, bright and active. Her weight is perfect for her height - nice waist and flat stomach. A word of caution: transition your cat slowly when transitioning from a high-carb diet, or you'll create a smelly poop nightmare. (It took me 3-4 weeks.) This food is almost 70% protein and contains almost no carbohydrates. Most other cat foods contain about 30-35% protein and about the same amount of carbohydrates. My last recommendation: Go for it!
