Review on πŸ“€ Exploring Unmatched Portability with Panasonic Shockwave SL-SW405 Compact Disc Player by Terry Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well built, strong, high quality, somewhat unusual.

Excellent CD player. It is clearly made for runners or athletes as it has a very strong body and can survive a fall. I've dropped mine and it didn't even slip through. It's larger than it looks in the picture and a bit heavy compared to the Sony drive it replaced. It has some unusual places for a pair of switches. You are in the drive bay. I had to run to the manual to get mine out of random mode. The batteries are also housed in the compartment located under the CD itself. It can use dry cell or rechargeable battery. The big black side latches slide out and then the device collapses to access the CD - another unusual way of doing things. There is a selector that allows you to control the size of the data buffer. This allows you to trade off between skipping and battery life. If you have a scratched CD and the switch is set to maximum, it will play it pretty well. Much better than Sony. In terms of sound quality, it does the same job as my Sony in a large stereo. I play it through tube amps to ribbon speakers. It has line outputs as well as a conventional headphone amplifier. Despite the unusual appearance and operation, this device was a good purchase. hope it lasts

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Without machine

I can't get a CD to play in my car, even though I have the proper connection.
