I bought the 4TB model of this hard drive to replace a 500GB PS4 hard drive that was constantly running out of space. Anyone who has enough games or DLC knows that 500 GB is not much. Some PS4 games are 75GB or larger. FOR ONE GAME ONLY! Anything under 4TB just seemed silly to me! SO HERE ARE THE IMPORTANT DETAILS: - This 4TB hard drive model WILL NOT FIT your PS4 without modification! - YES SIR! It's possible to use the 4TB version with your PS4 if you want to make a very simple change. If you decide to make this change, you are entirely responsible for the system. I don't advise anyone to do this unless they are capable of doing something of this magnitude and I will not be held responsible if they mess up or destroy your system. HOW TO PERFORM THE MODIFICATION: Once you have backed up all your data and now you are ready to pull out your old hard drive; 1-Remove the old hard drive while holding it and just put it somewhere. 2- Use small but very sharp and very strong metal scissors to cut off the cage covering the area where the HD is located. 3- After completely opening the HD section by removing the cage that covers it, you must place 2 strips of double foam tape on which the HD rests to connect to the fork at the right height. This tape will also be what is now holding your HD in place. NOTICE SOMETHING; ONLY USE 2 strips of tape spaced 1/4" to 1" apart! You do NOT want your HD to overheat and you need ventilation which only gives you 2 small strips. This will also be more than enough to protect the HD, so DO NOT use it anymore! If you completely seal the HD slot with double-sided tape, don't be surprised if your system freezes and crashes/shuts down/reboots/or stops working. Tape and start inserting the HD at an angle and move it down and you insert it until the HD touches the tape (rocking motion) and now your new 4TB HD is installed. 5 - Replace the top of the PS4 device. , I was able to get mine back and play with a little effort. There is a very, very slight bulge but you will NEVER notice it. I will try to add HD photos and my modification if you choose to do so, the responsibility is yours! But it works and it's VERY easy and simple! ***UPDATE*** 12/2018 I've been using this HD on my PS4 for a few months now. There is intermittent slight lag/sluggishness when multitasking and in menus. Otherwise it was great! Lots of space for what I need! The only thing that could be better is if I put a 4TB SSD in it. Maybe in a future system! ps5?
