Review on πŸ’§ GE GXWH40L Complete Filtration System by Keisha Crews

The red button will end your luck.

This is a very affordable system and does what it says on the tin. HOWEVER, DO NOT PRESS the red button. Any sediment you get will get stuck in that outlet valve and drip and break out forever. *** Is there a solution you ask? *** It really depends on your skill level. I fixed this by completely disassembling the red valve, taking it apart (it's actually grooved to hold the knob in place), cleaning the cavity very well, cleaning the piston and o-ring, and applying and pulling a film of lube on the seal have string through the buttonhole, tie it to the small plunger and return the plunger to its place. I then used a curved tool similar to a dental tool (I bent the nail with pliers and sanded the surface) to keep the back force on the side of the piston up in the flow cavity while I pushed the spring button back onto the piston. I then used a small hot tool (screwdriver) to weld the button back on like GE did. Is this step necessary? I am not sure. They did, so I think so. I suppose the water pressure will do the rest and hold the seal, but it's best to take care to keep the knob spring loaded. Do I recommend trying this fix? I mean, what you're actually losing at this point is that your bottom filter is leaking. My fix worked great and now no leaks. I have a two stage system and the GE is the first stage so I still had filtered water while fixing through the bypass. If you only have one filter, do this bypass. So if you have sand it might be good to tell people not to leave the taps running. I also recommend a water detector. Especially if your setup is in a bypass room like mine. Worth every penny.
