Review on πŸ”Œ Foredom MTX MTXR M-TX Motor Control by Ryan Koser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much improved and more flexible choice than Dremel

Nice construction. If you have money to spend, get one of the Foredoms with a 1/3 HP motor. Not smaller engines. I'm used to dial speed devices and I was thinking about buying a dial controller for this device. Having used the pedal for a while I would NOT go back. It is much more pleasant to slowly pick up speed in many projects. Then it's easy enough to maintain the desired speed. This. The pedal isn't so sensitive that you can't easily hold a speed. bit change. The machine I had before Foredom had a quick change collar. I thought I wouldn't like the Foredom pin and wrench installation. I keep a pen and wrench tied together on top of the motor. With my right hand I take the tip and twist the tip with my thumb and forefinger. This allowed me to quickly line up the holes and insert the pin. The left hand now uses the wrench to quickly change clubs. It's quicker to do than say. Now I just miss the quick-change collar a bit. One thing you have to get used to. When you first start, the engine turns. This will move your teeth. So I had to get into the habit of keeping the drill off the project when I started and picking up speed more slowly. I also bought a #30 tip with a cartridge. This allows you to use the entire range of small drills. Also, I can have one nozzle in the original grip and one in the other. Changing tips is faster than changing nozzles. Parts of the arms just come off. Then turn the bit in the next handle so the protrusion on the shank lines up with the slot in the handle and snap back. For occasional use you can use a dremel with a flexible handle, but it will start to heat up if you use it for a long time or use most of the bit. It can be used all day without overheating. Although I don't use it every day, I'm very glad I have it. My Dremel hangs in the same places, but still rarely used.
