I have a 10 gallon tank and it's the *perfect* size. As advertised, the magnet floats on the surface when unplugged. Unless you're coordinative enough and know how to maneuver around turns, the swimmer won't be easy enough to swim away. If he swims away, it's very easy to bring him back without putting his hand in the aquarium. I have a glass tank and have not experienced any scratches as some other reviews suggest. It's definitely better than being elbow-deep in a tank! Also, with that size, I can keep it in a tank. I put it behind the bubbler so I never have to take it off.
