I have a 3.0 plug-in dock on the other end with keyboard, mouse, dual 1920x1080 monitors, 1GB ethernet (dock part), USB Serial, Logitech webcam and a couple of speakers. I have two laptops (work Inspiron and Home Alienware). I manually switched the dock between them (it's just one cable). I connected this switch to the cables and everything worked fine. Switching back and forth is painless, literally at the touch of a button. I am very happy. Worth the price. A NOTICE. I am not using the dock to power any of the machines. I didn't need a fork.
