Review on 🌿 Explore & Learn with Nature Bound Backyard Exploration Catcher for Education and Discovery by Kenneth Murphy

A good idea turned into junk due to cost savings and low-skilled labor. Don't buy it, it will break.

this might be one of the worst assembled toys i have ever seen. I have read many reviews here about motors that stopped working after one or more uses. Well, a certified electronics technician is here to show you exactly why. The switch inside is garbage. Combine that with a design that lets it bend backwards and is doomed to break. See attached photos. It's hard to tell how thin and fragile the metal that makes up this switch really is. It's just not suitable for this application. Anyone who has ever chosen this toy was concerned about the cost MUCH more than a toy that actually works. In addition, whoever assembled this block soldered in a capacitor, both ends of which were connected to the same contact. This error causes the component to not work AT ALL. The way it was assembled at the factory and passed quality control is confusing. The solder joints to connect the wires are so bad that the red wire in my photo just fell off its connection to the battery holder. This is typical for those who are just starting to solder and do not sufficiently heat the solder joints. Another rookie mistake that shouldn't have gone through quality control. I also read that the suction power is bad and I have to agree. This is caused by the tiny engine they hide behind a big body, which makes you think it will be much more powerful. In fact, the motor takes up less than half the space in the case. Probably another cost-saving feature. A more powerful motor provides more suction power. However, it's difficult to suck hair from the table or the styrofoam bug that comes with the exerciser. If he can't lift a hair or styrofoam until it's INSIDE the tube, how can he lift a real bug that will most likely try to latch on to something if it's sucked in or weighs more than styrofoam? Finally the battery compartment. Children's toys usually have some kind of case attached with a screw. This case has no latch, clasp, clip or anything else. It attaches ONLY with a screw holding the bottom of the gun where the batteries are located to the block. Due to the design, it hangs noticeably open when installed correctly and leaves a small gap directly in the batteries. For a toy intended for collecting insects outside the home, I expected the compartment to be well sealed and the liner to keep water out. Another feature was lost due to cost reductions. Like many others I bought this for my son who thought it was the greatest invention of all time and couldn't wait to try it but it broke after a few minutes. I am so disappointed in the unethical decisions that have been made to lower the cost of this device. It really could be a great toy, but it's only meant for the bin. TL:DR Avoid it. Maybe it would be worth it if it was sold at the dollar store because that's the quality you get. At least then you could take 12 packs, so you could get a good rest in the first 3 minutes or just keep going.
