Ideal for beginners leather covers!

I first ordered Feibing paint to paint the belt. I still had almost the entire bottle left so I pulled out some old leather boots I bought at a thrift store that looked very sad and worn and in desperate need of some love. I didn't have any leather polish remover, but I did have some 100% acetone in my nail polish drawer, which did a great job of getting the shiny finish off my boots (and it's very cheap). After the acetone dried (and I rebuilt the brain cells I lost on this project in a windowless bathroom. Seriously, do it outside), I went over the paint on the boots a few times on the wool brush strokes. After the paint was dry I applied a few LIGHT coats of Resolene to the boots (I diluted the Resolene with water about 50/50 because I didn't want the boots to be SUPER shiny) which I applied with a damp sponge have. some tips from a few people on some leatherworking forums on the internet. I'm very happy with how they turned out! They are beautiful and honestly look better than new. Such a simple solution for cheap boots can be found at flea markets and thrift stores! NOTE :: Depending on the color chosen, the color will be DARK. When applied to resoles it becomes EVEN DARKER. The belt I dyed (photo attached) turned almost black after I applied Resolene (I didn't dilute it). I didn't really care, but if you're hesitating between two colors, by all means start with the lighter one. too dark dye. Do you know the instruction "Better to test in an inconspicuous place or scrap it first"? I'm all for ignoring directions, but in this case it's a really good idea :) Deducting a star for not having any helpful directions. As already mentioned, Resolen is best applied with a damp sponge. I also dilute it 50/50 with water to reduce the shine a bit. It's very flexible and won't tear in the creases of my boots.
