I bought two of these switches to add to my SmartThings setup and was so impressed I ordered four more. Considering the price, these switches offer good value for money. It's a press-on and press-on style and as such is different from what you're likely to replace or are used to, but I find it comfortable. They actuate with very little effort, but with enough travel that you're not likely to accidentally actuate. Please note that these are simple switches, not dimmers. Pros: - Easy to install and pair. They were recognized within seconds of entering pairing mode. Compared to some of the Jasco switches I've installed, it's been lucky to be able to bring the two together. - Includes a beautiful one block shaped overlay instead of the boring old flat or none at all. Unfortunately most of the ones I bought fit in multiboxes so the plates end up on the shelf. Cons: - The terminals only support one wire, so there is no continuity. This isn't really a problem unless you have 14cc boxes and need to use pigtails to connect the switch or some circuitry is already wired to the box. - Large, see above. Size is old, new switches from Jasco and others are smaller and easier to fit in small boxes and don't have ribs that need to be trimmed to fit multi-gang boxes. They have ribs that you may need to remove in multi-section crates. - The maximum resistive load is 10A, so I would limit its use to lighting only, not outlets. - The grounding tab never feels secure when pulled over the ground wire. I have no idea what's going on, but even though the wire is secure, the screw still turns freely. Strange. The small wire supplied, presumably for the white neutral (which is needed), is black. Oops, wrong color, I had to cut the white wires from a piece of Romex I had lying around. - The supplied screws appear to be #8. Standard #6 screws. I used screws from the fixtures they replaced. I can see they would come in handy if the screws in the plastic box were snapped off and you would be grateful for larger screws, but I prefer to override disaster recovery if disaster does indeed strike. is not configurable and changes color to purple-pink when switched on. Maybe you don't like the always-on pilot light, or you don't mind. Again, this is the cheapest Zigbee switch that Revain sells that I could find, so I'm willing to adapt. I actually like the light, it's shaped like a small crescent and not blindingly bright. No dimmer. I didn't buy a dimmer. If I needed dimmers, I would buy dimmers. When triggered, they make a fairly high click that other reviews say is cheap. I don't find it cheap and to be honest I don't play with switches, I just use them to turn lights on and off. Other reviews also describe the plastic as cheap. I'm not sure how that is defined. I mean how do you say? It's shiny white plastic, just like all the other white switches I've used, except for a few ridiculously expensive ones. — Durability? No idea. A few have been installed for a few weeks, today I installed a few more. They worked perfectly. The automation control works perfectly, react immediately. The crystal ball is cloudy today, I can't predict how long they will last, but I have no reason to think they will fail any time soon. I'll update if they turn out to be crap. Installation Notes: - This requires a neutral (white) wire in the box. If the device you are operating has been connected to a hot loop switch and not a neutral wire, that switch will not work. Other options are now available. To insert the wire into the terminal, loosen the screw and tilt the switch so the screw slides back. Insert the wire (stripped of course) into the hole and tighten the screw. Like I said, the ground connection is just weird. Keep it up, everything seems fine. - To pair, enter pairing mode in the automation application. To enter pairing mode on the switch, turn on the device again (the indicator light should be blue) after everything is put together and press the switch for about 5-10 seconds. When the indicator starts blinking, it is ready for pairing. The hub should detect this within a few seconds. Name it whatever you want and test it to make sure it works. Treat yourself with a cold one, you saved enough to afford to buy this switch. Hooray!
