Review on WIMAXIT Portable Monitor: 14" 1920X1080P, Wall Mountable, M1400CT IPS - The Perfect Computer External Display by Cornelius Marshall

First Impression: This is a good solid product with no manufacturer credit.

As the displays go, this one seems to get the job done. Like many similar devices, this one has its own characteristics. Those who love to dive into hardware assembly without reading instructions will have endless fun with this device. I bought a micro/SFF computer in December and finally bought this display this week to have another system that I can pack up and take with me right away. Until I need it, this display uses less power and has a nicer pitch compared to the 22-inch. The ViewSonic display it replaces - my primary display - is 27 inches. 4K display. BUT. Even before you open the box, you are on your own. Caveats: 1. The cables in the box are terribly short. Obtain a 1-2 meter cable of a specific description - either an extension cable or a USB 3.1 to USB-C cable - to ensure adequate access to power. I get by with a 1.5m USB 3.1 to USB-C cable to a PD hub on my desk.2. The "bottom" connector is the OLD REGULAR HDMI (that's what I use to get the video signal). I'm at a loss as to why this product comes with a mini HDMI to mini HDMI cable. Study carefully before attempting any exotic compounds. At some point I will try to connect one of my PDAs to this display, but not today. My guess is that PCs can only send video signals over USB-C if their video drivers support this approach. On the right is a button and above it is a switch that swings and presses at the same time. Press the top switch to open the setting menu, press it again to enter the sub-menu and complete the final settings. Use the lower button to back up from the step performed by pressing the upper button.4. The stand/dust cover is attached with two thumbscrews (so removable and replaceable without tools), but there are no VESA-compatible mounting points. (EDIT: That's a lie, the mounting points are there; they're hidden. I haven't measured them.) I'm expecting a stand to arrive tomorrow that will allow for portrait orientation, which allows for 90 degree clockwise rotation and a would require careful positioning - The menus accommodate portrait orientation, but not the position of ports and switches.5. Since I'm using this display as a secondary display, touchscreen input goes to the primary display - and scales accordingly - but the touchscreen functionality itself seems to work. I think I will be satisfied using this device for its intended purpose and not for its intended purpose. (EDIT: There doesn't appear to be a way to DISABLE touch, however. Secondary display users take note.) 6. [NEW, added 60 days after receipt] Even if you have yummy long cables, you also need yummy ( ? !) large hands to hold this scaffolding securely on its feet like a presentation. In most cases, your best bet is to put it on a lectern and use the touch function SO, or stream from a large tablet that can take some abuse.
