Review on WIMAXIT Portable Monitor: 14" 1920X1080P, Wall Mountable, M1400CT IPS - The Perfect Computer External Display by Don Hawkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent monitor, mediocre stand, really 4.5

TLDR: Great portable screen for the money, the included case was mediocre at best as a stand. Good lighting and graphics options, sound is ok but I would use external headphones. It's not worth giving a star for the stand/case, but it's very important to me, hence 4.5 stars. The monitor comes in a well-packaged case. the box wasn't sealed, but i didn't notice any breaks in the tape, so it could be from the manufacturer. The guide is simple enough to understand what you need to do to set up and use the options menu (although the menu controls take a bit of getting used to). firm body feeling that feels good. The monitor controls are located on the lower left side of the case, while the outputs are on the right side. The output jacks are solid and feel firm without loosening or wiggling once the cables are connected. The lid/body of the monitor needs some work. The panels are too thin and flex too much for a monitor of this size. In comparison, the tab for my Samsung Tab 7, with a screen measuring just 10 inches, has thicker bezels and better magnet placement. The only place where there are magnets is at the top where the stand connects in a horizontal position. "Bottom" of the case has cutouts for the screen, which is normal when the cables are not connected. But after connecting 2 USB-C cables (one for power, one for signal) the monitor likes to crawl out of a notch in the case, which means I have to reconfigure it every 15m, very annoying for a monitor of this kind of quality, there should be magnets in niches that fix the monitor, brightness is good, color saturation could be a little better. The screen could have used deeper blacks, most high settings look a bit washed out to me, but workable. I don't use the screen to play complex sounds, so the sound works for me. But in my experience, if sound quality is important to you, I would go with headphones. Touch sensitivity is okay, I wouldn't call it great, but it does the job. not so good when the screen is tilted too much. The controls are fine, if a bit confusing at first to get used to. There is a toggle switch and a button. The button is essentially your back button, the column wheel toggles up and down and has a deep press. It's deep, it's easy not to get a response if you don't press deep enough, but you'll feel it if you do it a few times. All in all, if you're looking for a good 14-inch touchscreen to use as a second monitor for your laptop, or a portable display for running your smartphone or PC testbed, this should work. But I think they should have included a hard stand, even just a stepped thing attached to the back. Or made a better stand/cover because I see this thing falling apart relatively quickly and it doesn't hold the monitor well which is the purpose of the stand.
