Boosts both outgoing and outgoing signals by 3dB. So if your cable modem connects at the very edge (e.g. 35 downstream SNR and 57 dBmV transmit power) and logs a lot of correctable and uncorrectable errors, blocks an uplink, resets the connection type and if you are fed up Comcast technicians, You can try. I'm seeing 37+ dB downstream and blocking on 4 uplinks at 54 dBmV after replacing the passive splitter with this thing. Works like clockwork! And no "Have you connected the modem, sir?" is nonsense too :)
