We love this system! While I hate the idea of electrocuting dogs, I know it's very gentle (we never cried out and only a very slight and brief fear) and it only took her a couple of times to learn the behavior from before had. greatly influenced our whole life. Our dogs can enjoy the garden to the fullest, we have the peace of mind that they are safe (but of course we always keep an eye on them), we are not intimidated by the wires of the cable and the dogs are much better behaved ! This system is well worth its very affordable price and I highly recommend it! For those of you who love the details, please read on! A little background: we used a zip tie with a rail connected to two trees in our large yard. I was hesitant to switch to an invisible fence because I didn't think our 10 year old Goldendoodle (65lbs) would stop walking once he hit the threshold and we were on a tight budget so I was convinced that we couldn't afford a wired system. However, when we added our 70 pound, 1 year old Labradoodle, zip ties were no longer an option. We've tried, but it was impossible to prevent them from getting tangled up, let alone taking your life into your own hands when trying to walk or do things in the garden. So my husband finally found this system that can manage multiple collars, is very affordable (especially for what you get!) and has a remote control so our girl can know she can't stay abroad and go back to the yard must. , as opposed to hitting the border with no remote control to continue the message. Setup was very easy and the instructions were very helpful. We ran about 400 feet of wire, so the spool that came with the kit was plenty, and we had an extra two if it needed splicing because we were lazy and didn't bury it immediately before mowing the lawn. Ha! Luckily the system comes with an underground splice box so we were able to fix it immediately and then proceed to digging the line. We've found the resistor to be very helpful in reducing threshold space, maximizing backyard space, and eliminating interference from other parts of the line. We lost a resistor in one of the splicing incidents but I contacted the company (in Australia) and they were very responsive and friendly. We made sure when setting our boundary that the entire house was enclosed as well, with enough room for wires to keep collars inside the house from flying off. Teaching them that they can't run through the front door also worked! The only place in the house where the collars work is in the corner of my office, which is directly above the space in the basement where the control box completes the cord loop. I just make sure their collars are off when they sleep under my desk. Well, how are the puppies! This system took care of almost everything! The training was very easy and our dogs mastered it quickly. Our older girl got a bit anxious (not usually her nature) but that cleared up after two 10 minute sessions. Our pup learned a quick lesson! The system will first beep, then vibrate, and finally shock if they continue to stick to the border. There are 10 shock levels, but we've never had to go above 4 (well, except once when we got to 7 - there was a squirrel involved haha!). We only used the beeper on the remote for jumping/barking/speaking learning. If the barking gets out of control we may need to use vibration, but we've never had to use electric shocks. Both of our dogs love to play in the water so I love that these devices are waterproof and have rubber inserts that plug into the charging port to keep water out. I had a heck of a lot of time to get them so I just left them and we had no problems with that. The pup is constantly playing in the sprinkler, but we didn't test the devices in the pool. Our girl crossed the threshold only once, chasing a rabbit. I was able to use the remote to constantly shock her (instead of just getting one when she crossed the line for non-remote systems) until she was back in the yard. She showed no signs of fear or pain and has not since, even though I did not put the collars on. We also used the remote to control the pup's jumping, barking, and mouth when he's teething. It was wonderful. The collars themselves are very well tolerated by our two puppies. We try to film them when they're inside, but they're walking around all day (we both work from home) so sometimes they stay inside. I also labeled the collars so I don't have to match each squirming dog every time I put them on (orange collar = black mark, black collar = silver mark). Collars last more than a day, but I have a habit of charging them every night before we go to bed so I don't forget them. The remote control lasts for several days! We don't have one yet but plan to take the collars on a hike soon to teach them not to attack other dogs. If you do, remember to remove your collars when you leave the house (unless you've set a dead zone on your door). There are only two things I would change: 1. Make waterproof rubber plugs to match the charging ports (maybe I'm missing something?).2. Somehow make it harder to accidentally kill the wrong dog from the remote (maybe color-coded?). :( We were SO sick that day. The puppy ran out of the yard to greet the neighbor and we kept shocking him to return to the yard. When he didn't respond to that we checked, and our poor girl was in the yard looking around very embarrassed turns out we actually shocked her it really did delay her training for a day or two but everyone got over it and we took extra care to make sure we had the right settings no, that we were careless before.
