Review on Sony ICD-BX800 2GB Silver Digital Voice Recorder with Flash Memory by Scott Bradford

Affordable and excellent quality

I have never been disappointed with a Sony product and this recorder is no exception. I used this recorder for an interview for a book, the sound quality is excellent, the microphone is very sensitive, the playback quality is good. My only complaint is that the background noise reduction feature didn't seem to help much when I was recording while driving and at a loud softball game, but voices were still adequately heard. You can't expect much more at this price point, so if you really need an isolated pickup in these environments, you need a separate plug-in mic. It's pretty easy to use, once you get the hang of it, just read the instructions once and you're good to go. It also has good battery life, I recorded about 9 or 10 hours in high quality and used it on batteries (good quality) for about 25 hours. As other reviewers have noted, it would be great if it had a USB output, but as mentioned, it's still possible to record to a computer in real time via the port. Once again you get what you pay for and it is good value for money in my opinion.

Cons
