Now I have 13 of them and they work like .

I have 13 now and they work as advertised. I use SP mode and get about 92 hours total recording time. If you use decent batteries, it records about 24-30 hours continuously. This purchase had a record, and when I hit the play button, I heard a song from my childhood. Pure Prairie League "Amy". made me smile.

Attention, excellent sound quality, no connection to the computer!

If you're looking for a great, affordable MP3 recorder, then this is it. However, note (like other reviewers) that you can't just plug it into a USB port and copy the files to your computer. Instead, you have to buy a special cable that looks like a headphone cable with a plug on both ends (you can get it from Radioshack or any other electronics store for a few bucks) and install software that will record it on your computer. , they have free software that will do it, just go to CNET.com and…

Read Instructions

Simpler is better these days. For me, this product is not so simple. Maybe I just didn't take the time to read and understand the instructions carefully. I bought it to record family histories for genealogical purposes. I figured (oh oh) that since it's digital I could hook it up to my computer and save the recordings. nope However, I did figure out how to do this using a patch cord from the headphone jack on the device to the microphone jack on my computer. phew! What I like: I've recorded in…

It connects to the PC!

This is from the Sony website. Connect one end of the cable to the headphone jack on the IC recorder with a mini-plug cable. Plug the other end of the cable into your computer's microphone jack. Open the Audio Recorder window and click Record. If you are using the Windows® XP operating system: Click the Start button, select All Programs, select Accessories, select Entertainment and click Sound Recorder. Make sure the audio level is turned on. Click on the volume icon in the taskbar. When the…

Affordable and excellent quality

I have never been disappointed with a Sony product and this recorder is no exception. I used this recorder for an interview for a book, the sound quality is excellent, the microphone is very sensitive, the playback quality is good. My only complaint is that the background noise reduction feature didn't seem to help much when I was recording while driving and at a loud softball game, but voices were still adequately heard. You can't expect much more at this price point, so if you really need an…
