My '92 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) 4.0 spattered and backfired. I thought it had something to do with the gearshift or, god forbid, my manual transmission had failed me. Read all the forums for advice and went through my own to-do checklist. I changed the TPS (throttle position sensor), replaced the MAP sensor and cleaned the IAC (intake air control) valve. No improvement. I'm not the type to just throw parts in a car to diagnose a problem. However, I have 277xxx miles on it and have yet to refresh those sensors. Anyway, it was on my to-do list. The next step was to replace the never-before-changed O2 sensor. This not only solved the play and switch problem, but also gave my child a new life. I see better throttle response, increased gas mileage and the exhaust smells even better (if that makes sense to anyone). This is a quality product that I can recommend. Arrived 2 days later via Prime and have no regrets.
