Adidas can sometimes hit or miss. However they are really nice and short and my son who doesn't care who made his clothes loves the feel and size! He is an average of 8 1/2 years old. old and I ordered him a medium size 10/12 or 12 - I just forgot I actually know it was the next size up so he had room to grow so I placed medium or 10/12. They are very good because of the elastic waist - it has a skinny drop with a 6 pack start so they are very skinny if you are wondering for your child.
