I am an artist tasked with creating a large installation out of oxidized steel. I decided to experiment with reactive metal coatings. I needed to push the boundaries of the medium to create a color palette that matched my aesthetic goals for this project. Experimenting with patina solutions, you can get a range of colors. This was my first experience with reactive paint. It was wonderful. Smooth application, excellent one coat coverage on primed surfaces and a durable finish. It contains real copper or bronze particles. It is an acrylic medium that is easy to clean. I've also bought rust activator and patina brands which I highly recommend. I apply the paint with sea sponges and rags and rub the paint onto a cut sheet of steel. The rapid drying properties of the paint are advantageous. My rubbing and buffing technique with copper or bronze colors makes the finish look like solid copper or bronze. I've almost completed my installation and I'm very happy with the results.
