I am a beauty salon owner. Two months ago I opened my own salon. I decided to go ahead and buy a fun new iron for my new shop. I bought it from a local cosmetics supplier. I usually only use BioIonic, but I wanted to try something new. This iron was great for the first five times I used it. I keep it at half temperature around 300 degrees. It started peeling off after the first few uses. Which strikes me as odd considering this thing heats up to 450 degrees. And what's built to withstand heat shouldn't have any problems with delamination, let alone multiple uses. I've been using it about twice a week for the last two months and this morning it stopped heating at all. Turns on but doesn't heat up. I had it not long ago and of course I threw away my warranty so I can't do anything about it and it's on me. But I really didn't expect a professional expensive hot tool to break so quickly. I'm also not one of those people who are strict with their tools. I don't twist cords, I fold them. I take great care of my instruments. So I know it's not user error. I'm just very disappointed and not looking forward to spending a ton of money on a new iron in just a few short months. Of course I will not exchange my iron for another Amika iron. From now on I will stay with BioIonic.
