The "clips" on the Volkswagen Polo have a somewhat outsized width. They do not fit completely in all of the slots. I started by making a slit in the middle of the sponges, and then I extended the cut with a needle file (sandpaper) under the internal "blinds" that are butting vertically in the airflow grille. It allows you to sit like a "native"! I would suggest. It's a good thing that the magnet is persistent.
