After losing my previous iLap in the Baton Rouge flood last month (along with nearly all my belongings), I briefly flirted with a competitor's aluminum model that folds flat. The problem with the Vogek was that while it could be the perfect solution for working on a flat surface, it kept folding back into the position I mostly use my laptop in, on my lap! Over the years I have purchased two padded wrist pads as replacements. Like most velor products, they tend to flatten and shine with prolonged use. Rein must be very proud of his patent as it is almost never discounted. The same goes for replacement pads, but since I haven't found a comparable product I'll stick with it. Speaking of Rain (company) and their replacement pads, I hope you check out these reviews from time to time; I have a suggestion that will bring down the price of the pads a bit and maybe make happy customers even happier: make the wrist pads flippable, meaning if one side is flat and shiny, the user can detach the velcro from the aluminum base and flip it over and leave the previously flat/shiny part down. At least consider doing so for the ones sold as replacements (of course it would be great if they originally shipped that way). As previously mentioned, I was very happy with my Rain product, so much so that I have ordered another one. Another suggestion that will lower the price of the pads a bit and perhaps make satisfied customers even happier: Make the wrist pads flippable, ie if one side is smooth and shiny, the user can detach the Velcro from the aluminum base and twist it over so that the previously flat/shiny part is below. At least consider doing so for the ones sold as replacements (of course it would be great if they originally shipped that way).
