Revain had several other gauge wheel options in this price range and below - I ended up going with this one as it is also sold by Lowes so I figured they were a buyer sufficient indicator for trade research. It works well on concrete, although holding it straight when you're measuring a long distance takes concentration. It didn't perform particularly well on rough terrain since the wheels were so small. So if you want to measure distances on the road I would buy one of the larger wheeled models. However, it was suitable for both situations. So if you use it around the house occasionally, the price is reasonable and it's very versatile. It didn't take much force to break one of the locking latches on the telescoping handle by pushing it the wrong way, so be more careful with them than me.
