This house is really cute but very light and not weatherproof. I don't know why it's considered an "open" cat house unless you live in a completely dry, warm place or keep it covered. It would have been fairly easy to assemble (like this type of furniture) but all the screws provided were too short to hold the pieces together. I ended up having to replace them with my longer stainless steel screws. At first glance, the design looks neat, but in fact it is poorly thought out. The top lifts up, perhaps so it can be cleaned. Unfortunately, it doesn't seal at the edge, so water gets in when it rains. The floor is made in a similar way, so in cold weather drafts pass through the floor. The way it's designed makes it very difficult to seal it if you want to. You need more than just sealant and extra screws. I also think if it lasts a year it will need a good coat of sealer at some point. I keep it covered with a tarp for the winter which completely defeats the purpose of an attractive pet house. I'm giving this two stars because my cat loves it and I think it could work as an indoor cat house if they fix the screw problem. I would not recommend paying full price for this item.
