I've had the little Ninja 400 for 6 days as of the time of this review. I just installed muffler this evening so I thought I would give a veteran rider's opinion. 1st and foremost mounted with the baffle in it sounds and looks great. It's a deep thumper like sound but not annoying loud like a full race pipe or too dirt bike like as many of the other pipes are. This is how it should of sounded stock in my opinion. Another good reason not to remove the baffle is the fueling is already lean off the bottom stock. Running it open will only cause it to be leaner. If you have read any of the previous reviews than you are already aware it's a tight fit. Take my advice, go to harbor freight and buy the medium size exhaust pipe expander, you'll need it. Under no circumstances should you beat the mid pipe on like other have stated. Some day they'll want to remove it and they'll have a hell of a time. I'm willing to bet it could have contributed to the broken welds down the road. Using the expander with a large cresent wrench on one side and a 19mm deep well on the other I was able to make it fit appropriately. The cheap $15 tool was a bit deformed but I expected that. Figure that tool and $15 investment as materials for the install. With the additional expenses it's still a steal.I did not ride it tonight but I'm not expecting any noticable power increase. The only performance increase you should expect is a loss of 6lbs of ugly and better ergonomics If I notice some extra snap or if the muffler fails I will update my review accordingly
