Works well but cables are too short

Like many others, I've been working remotely for over four months and have improved my IT system all the time. My primary monitor is a 32" ViewSonic 4K display with video input from my laptop and desktop. I used a regular USB switch for the keyboard and mouse. The biggest drawback of the monitor was that it took 4-6 button presses to switch the video input. The hassle factor eventually allowed me to look for a KVM that could drive a large monitor and switch input sources with the push of a button. After some searching I found this KVM. The main factor that influenced my choice was the ability to support 4K @ 60Hz video. My PC displays at this resolution and refresh rate, but my laptop displays at 4K at 30Hz. There is some video lag (about 5 seconds) during switching, but I believe this is an issue with the monitor and not the switching. I also had trouble streaming video over KVM from a multifunction USB-C hub with video out. This hub, connected directly to the monitor, can transmit 4K, but only works with FHD (1080p) via KVM. I've had other issues with this hub's video output, so I don't blame KVM for that. Luckily, the laptop had a direct HDMI output, which plays 4K over KVM with no problems. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason. Cables for KVM are too short, just under 3 feet long. My PC and laptop are on opposite sides of the table, so the position for the KVM was very limited: it had to be almost right between them to reach them. The Remote Switch button comes in very handy here as it can be in an easily accessible location a few feet away from the KVM. The switch has its own 5V power input, making it independent of the computer's power supply for all functions. The product page shows a cable for this input power. What wasn't shown was the included power adapter. Nice touch, they should show it in marketing. The biggest missing feature that could be added is a keyboard shortcut to toggle inputs. A couple of switchable USB ports would be nice, so that one or two accessories (such as a headset or webcam) could be used between computers in addition to the keyboard and mouse. Finally, it would be nice if KVM could simulate a keyboard and mouse signal to an idle device. When I switch inputs the laptop beeps thinking the keyboard and mouse are disabled. All in all a pretty good product at a really good price (at the time of purchase). My search resulted in less functional products at twice the price.
