6 mm was the perfect length of my tragus piercing, but it was too difficult to get the gem in since there was no extra bar to grab on to. the 8 mm bar is a loose fit and sticks out a bit, but I was actually able to get it on by myself! I will use the 6mm for my cartilage. So, see for yourself. It might also be different if you have someone helping you.The 4mm stone is very noticeable on the tragus, the 3mm is more subtle.
