These are amazing speakers with plenty of power and great sound quality. automatically if there is no sound after a while (maybe 10 minutes), which basically turns the speakers off. When sound is sent to them, they wake up from sleep mode. The problem is that this wake-up takes a few seconds, so you lose the first few seconds of playback. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but for PC speakers, you don't get system alerts when you're not playing music or whatever. Those little noises that let you know there's an error, you've received an email, or what the operating system or app needs to warn you about. They only play for a split second, so the speakers wake up, but long after the beep sounds. Therefore, you will never hear these warnings. Another annoying effect of this is that when playing a video or music - say a YouTube clip - you always have to watch the video silently for the first few seconds, then reset and run. It ends after the speaker wakes up and starts playing sound. That's fine - we all want to save the planet - but this feature should have an override; Let me turn it off when I want to watch video clips or listen to music or hear system alerts from my PC (most of the time). For a top-of-the-line speaker at this price point, this was a real design flaw, preventing this option from being left out if the need arose.
