Review on Innovative Jigtoy Puzzles: Mechanical Pendulum Excellence Unleashed! by Glenn Rodgers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great detailed set but wish the backs of the pieces were painted.

Everything is neatly cut and fits perfectly. The ship/puzzle is a bit complex in the sense that the pieces are not grouped in the order they are put together. Instead, they are scattered across four separate rectangular panels and are not inscribed on the panels. You will need to use the included instructions (see photo) to find out which of the four boards the piece you want is on. They're not that hard to find, but that's a bit different than other puzzles. A couple of warnings. First of all, do not knock out all the details before they are needed. When all the pieces are scattered, it becomes very difficult to find the right ones. You can do this, but it's a lot easier if you use a guide sheet to locate them on the perforated boards. Second, the small U-shaped pieces are clips used to hold other pieces together. Some of them can be hard to push all the way down. I have found it useful to have needle nose pliers on hand if needed to ensure the clip pieces are fully seated. Why four instead of five stars? In my photos you can see that the back of the parts is not painted. Likewise, the sails are only printed on the front. If I think about it in time, I would paint the back of the boards black. With that, the finished ship would look good in every way. In the photos you can see the difference in the shape of the ship from different angles. The manufacturer was able to fix this relatively easily by painting the back. It was a fun puzzle that resulted in a beautiful piece to display.
