Review on 500,000 BTU Economy Propane Torch Kit - VT2-1/2-24Ce by Pete Hahn

This has become the backbone of my foundry and when everything works perfectly it's just phenomenal. However, this worries me greatly. The check valve seems to disassemble easily even with the slightest pressure due to a very weak metal. It has a brass clamp on the ends of the hoses by design, but they also don't come with the usual spring guards which prevent the hoses from bending causing the brass clamps to leak which is a HUGE potential hazard. Hose and valving issues aside, the rest of the unit is pretty well put together. Sure, it's designed for tasks like burning weeds, but even that task doesn't seem practical. If you haven't doused the area with flammable material, you're just burning money in fuel costs. For all my complaints, this has nothing to do with the seller. That was excellent. My complaints mostly come from my intention to use this in a way it wasn't originally intended for. However, using it for the purpose it was intended for left me unsatisfied. The big question is how well it will fare against heavy snowfall, which it should endure, but that remains to be seen. The rating will be changed IF and ONLY IF it does not perform its task satisfactorily.
