[This is a review of a tool, not a specific vendor] I've used this tool a few times and today decided to upgrade it with a heavier tool substitute. It takes a few hits to get through the leather I'm working with (which is admittedly heavy at 8-12oz) and the finish is chipping, just like mine. The hole it creates is clean and even, but only if I make sure it doesn't move at all between the many hammer blows it takes to drive the tool through the skin. This tool is fine if you only want to drill slotted holes occasionally, but it will tire you out if you have to use it more than infrequently. If you only need to drill oblong holes in a blue moon once, you can omit the oblong punch altogether and just use a round punch to punch two holes and use a blade to cut between them. If you plan to make a lot of items that require slotted holes, it pays to invest in a heavy-duty hole punch.
