Save your money and buy a decent oblong cutter. This will be a source of irritation as it only cuts the thinnest skin.

Punch works well. The end cap can be irritating because it moves when you hit it with a hammer. And the striking part is not very sharp, so it takes a lot of striking before it goes through the skin.

Nice heavy tool. But you have to hit very hard many times until it cuts right through the skin (not very thick). I use a tool to carve a bit and I end up using an accordion. It works that way, but when you buy a tool like this, you expect that you won't have to use anything else to get the job done.

I bought this item over a month ago to punch holes in leather, I've just tried it, I should have tried punching holes when I received it. It's too late to go back, this tool has started growing mushrooms on top and it doesn't work at all, it's useless. It has an aluminum part on one end, it's a flimsy metal tube and doesn't cut anything. FULL ALUMINUM CHARACTER.

It takes a few hits to get through the leather I'm working with (which is admittedly heavy at 8-12oz) and the finish is chipping, just like mine.
