Review on πŸ“± [Cuescreens] V2018+ Cadillac CUE Replacement Upgraded Touch Screen Display for 2018 and newer CUE Systems by Dan Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Saving $1375.00 on parts

I was very excited to write about my experience of repairing a DEFECTIVE CUE that GM knows is defective and will not even replace 2 months out of warranty becomes. (Worth the effort, READ BELOW) We bought our 2014 SRX in December 2020 with 46,000 miles on it. Liked it from day one. There were the usual headlight issues which the dealer took care of even though we removed the 3k warranty. Noticed on the way home, offered to repair and even install our super bright LED bulbs and new LED housings. Just great. Then after 6 months the CUE screen starts to crack in the corner (on the dealer's receipts I can see it was already replaced 3/2018) but they only give it a 2 year warranty as they know this is the Life expectancy is if you live in warm climates like Florida. this new one made it 26 months! Signs of a bad CUE are cracks in a small area, like broken glass. then it spreads and the screen becomes unresponsive! Ask your dealer for a $1,500 replacement CUE price. Do your research and buy one of the cuescreens with a different technology which they say will NEVER fail (even if the warranty covers a new BAD CUE. Wasn't worth the hassle of doing it again after 2 years) went with "Never Fails" πŸ˜‰I watched a video on YouTube and ordered a 2018 CUE model for $175. Mine has already been replaced otherwise it would have been a cheaper version, $99 I believe. Ordered in cuescreens on Revain, received, put in a box and ignored for 2 months. because although the cracks were annoying, until yesterday it was still responsive and now it's difficult to use any of the hint functions. just doesn't answer. Installed today and everything went great, I used their installation videos and took my time. They say 2 hours took me 4 hours from start to finish including cleaning! I am in awe watching and following the video and you really can't go wrong. Bring your tablet or laptop outside to remove some of the paneling and follow the instructions. Once the CUE is disconnected, place it indoors on a well-lit bench and continue. The two parts that I found most difficult were getting to the two 7mm screws under the fairing that runs the length of the entire transmission tab. After breaking off I just force it far enough to fit a 7mm flat socket in there, the seat is in your way but you'll find that out for yourself. The second worst part was unplugging the cables from the back of the CUE once. You pull it away from the dash (you're on a short leash). Just watch the video over and over again. two tools for a connection are absolutely necessary. You wish you had 3 hands, you have to pry open two sides at once and unplug. Use the tools to poke to one side and the other and pull out the connector. Removing the trim (said 10 minutes but I had trouble accessing the two 7mm on top became 20 minutes). Screen Removal: Look on YouTube, cuescreens have great videos. Nice to save $1300 πŸ˜‰ Now all I have to do is replace the fabric visor on our sunscreen. another known GM issue they will not fix. $1200 for it and I looked at what I'm doing myself and said no thanks. Dealer job πŸ˜‰ All I said is that I love the SRX. Sorry for the long post and hope this helps someone!
