Original and reproduction Eagle #2 burner wick channels are typically exactly 1 inch wide. Many of the originals warped less than 1 inch, compressing the wick which clumps and does not feed when the feed wheel is turned. Buying a slightly smaller wick solves this problem. I also found that I had to trim the wicks less often than other wicks. I test a couple of my lamps to see if there is a central dark band to see which have Lamp Mate wicks. They seem to need less maintenance. I don't know how long the coil will last, but with less trimming it should be longer than the old wicks in vintage lamps or the cheaper wicks available at lamp supply stores. Very happy with these wicks so far.
