Great food if you prefer a grain free diet

My 4 month old Shih Tzu loves this food. I have spent many many hours researching dog food and I find this product to be of very high quality. Important: There is a great deal of debate as to whether dogs should include grains in their diet. Taurine is at the center of the debate โ€“ taurine is an important part of the diet. Some sources say it's best to use ingredients high in taurine and organ meats and avoid legumes. Difficult to go through all the reviews as many items contradict each other. My vet recommends including grains. Of course, you should use whole grains, not wheat and corn fillers, white rice, etc. I mix Orijen with another grain product (Blue Buffalo puppy food). Orijen does not manufacture any products containing grains. If they were I would buy. I mix them 50% and 50%. I haven't started using canned food yet, but when I do I will be using one that has grain in it. The granule size is good although I would like a smaller size if available. My dog is only 4 pounds so he needs a little bite. However, she has no problems with chewing and swallowing. When she was younger I used smaller pellets. You can always soak it in warm water.
