My dog tensed it in about a week. Although I was more concerned that he would break his neck. After that I started putting a harness on him. I gave it three stars because I really like it and we still use it every day. It's just a little harder burying it in the ground now. The included drill bit works well but I have to move around the garden and find patches of soft ground for it to work. Then when I find a spot where it's easy to pierce, it gets a little wobbly (I think that's why it's bent). I need some kind of long rod to thread it through for more torque so I can easily screw it into the ground. In general I still use it every day - I tried bending it back but it didn't work so I just screwed it into the ground in a curved way. My dog loves hanging out outside
