Review on πŸ”§ UY CHAN Pocket Size Programmable Soldering Tool by Mark Howard

Warming up is like playing Russian roulette. And will it work this time?

I had a TS-100 before and liked it, but the case broke at the top and was very difficult to repair. I was about to do a new 3D print but couldn't find an STL that looked good. So I decided to upgrade to the C-80 as everything I read said it was way better than the TS-100. I DO NOT AGREE AT ALL. A few weeks later I put it in my closet for good and did my best with a $50 hot air repair station. I used it recently when the repair station was too big to move, but it immediately occurred to me why I really, really didn't like this model. At first everything was fine, but I, but when I connected it to USB-C, it connected to 9V and began to heat up, then restarted and stayed at 5V. This voltage is not enough for soldering. If I kept plugging and unplugging the cable it would eventually connect and stay at 9V and it's really fast at 9V, unfortunately sometimes it took a minute at most and sometimes a whole day. The whole food system is just weird.

Pros
  • NEW version
Cons
  • Obsolete model
