I agree with other reviews, this item should be standard equipment. I also took the advice of other reviewers and put a bumper between the two panels and the surface of my car. I applied masking tape to the mounting plates and cut the tape with a razor blade. Hopefully the tape will prevent corrosion issues. I also used a T50 socket to remove the screw holding the top block. Mine seemed to be being twirled by some crazy percussion instrument. I had trouble removing the insulation but the screw still came loose. My back door (2016 F150) now opens like a butler in a mansion gently opens the door for me. I think this is a very smart buy considering one slip can put $200 on an aluminum tailgate.
