I use this brush on my standard gas grill with thick cast iron grates. Using this brush lying on the grid requires a little more effort than using a standard bristle brush. You then need to rotate this brush 90 degrees to get the sides of each grid. The extra effort is generally worth it as the benefit of this product is that there is less risk of the wire bristles becoming detached and getting into your food. If the wires were a bit more flexible it might help to clean the rust instead of just breaking the top.
