Filters K&N in Filters

First of all, don't expect miracles from this filter. They work really well if you have realistic expectations. I've used them on my last 8 cars and all have performed better and increased gas mileage by at least 2mpg. In general, you can use them for a long time between cleanings as long as you don't use them in dusty areas. Every car I put them in runs smoother, you can feel the difference right away. An engine is an air pump and the more air it can pump, the more power it produces and the less fuel you use. K&N claims around 15-20 hp and I can say that is very plausible. I just installed this in my new MKZ AWD and went from 25mpg to 27mpg straight away. Now that summer temperatures have arrived, it's up to 29mpg. I will continue to buy K&N filters as long as I buy cars. You really are that good. The more you drive your car, the better they look. You don't throw away the filter every 10,000 miles, but you save money by increasing your gas mileage with every mile driven. Filters pay for themselves easily in the first few months of ownership. I have a hard time believing some of those reviewers who claim there are no benefits. As a certified calibrator, I keep very detailed records of my gas mileage before and after installing each filter on my new vehicles, and each showed an increase of at least 2mpg under the same driving conditions. And let's remember that even if you didn't see any fuel savings, you would save a lot of money over the life of your vehicle by purchasing replacement air filters. They last as long as you own your vehicle.
