I had to write this review to avoid repeating my mistakes. This was my first replacement of this filter because we rented this house. I didn't know anything about this and turned to YouTube for help and surprisingly found nothing, but I did find instructions on the aqua pure website. When the filter arrived it had instructions (you never know so I wanted to be prepared). It was difficult to remove the outer cover. I was afraid I was going to rip it off the wall of the closet so I started tapping around the perimeter in case sediment got stuck etc and it worked and the canister eventually unscrewed. Then I unscrewed the internal filter cartridge without any problems (underneath is a towel and a bowl for catching water) and cleaned everything around it, as limescale deposits and pieces had settled in the lid. I started screwing in the new filter cartridge according to the instructions which said to hand tighten and it just kept turning and then SNAP, the threaded nipple part snapped into the cap. (This has happened to other reviewers and I was extremely careful and it still has happened to me - definitely a design flaw because you feel some resistance but not really tightening) I called Amazon and they sent it over for a free replacement the next day. I had to use a flathead screwdriver slightly larger than the hole inside that the broken nipple was in, carefully insert it in and slowly twist to unscrew the broken bit back out of the cap and it worked! This time I counted the turns on the new filter cartridge's nipple and made a full turn for each counted turn (about 10) and then I turned on the water under the sink a little and it came out, so I made another full turn . Twist 2 or 3 more times until the water stops flowing out and I can turn the water back on without dripping. I smeared silicone grease (FYI, you'll need it) around the rubber ring on the new canister cap and screwed it on. I placed Tupperware and dry paper towels under the canister and turned the faucet on full for the recommended 5-10 minutes and it worked! No leaks and excellent faucet pressure. Hope that helps!
