I bought this colander based on reviews and also recognized the brand BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT thing was from the description which said the rice would not fit through the holes - While this is a good one Replacement for the broken mesh and I've used it to wash rice before cooking. If you want to wash uncooked rice before cooking (I've tried long grain white rice), it's a bit of a hassle to 1) rinse the rice in the sink and 2) suck the rice into the holes and then try to pull that rice out. - for rice I'll look for a mesh strainer - maybe use the same type I broke (it was a well used strainer that lasted many years)
