Review on πŸ’» Intel Core i7-8700 Desktop Processor: 6 Core, Up to 4.6 GHz, LGA 1151 300 Series, 65W Power Consumption by Stanislaw Sipko ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very high quality product, it's not the first time I bought it.

Maybe someone will be useful. The Gigabyte z390 gaming x board, on which the 8700 was previously installed, seems to support the 9-series out of the box. However, the 9700k would not start in any way. It turned out that the F6 bios firmware that I had did not support the R0 stepping that my processor has. It's good that there are several computers in the house, I downloaded the F8 firmware to the flash drive, installed it via Q-Flesh, and everything started up.

Pros
  • Significantly colder than the 8th series, 8 full-fledged cores, of course, fast. I took it in early August for 25 kopecks, boxed - thanks to the new ryzens, probably the difference with the original version was minimal. Compared to the previous 8700 (without k) - earth and sky, the temperature dropped by 10 degrees in the Aida stress test. Of course, I knew about the solder, but I did not think that the 9 would be so cold. Yes, and the percentage seems to be successful (Malaysian, stepping r0) at full load keeps 4.6 in turbo boost for all cores at a voltage of 120225-120220, the hottest core is 62 degrees. The previous 8700 (oem), with long dances with a tambourine around the selection of voltage, agreed to work only at 120225-120220, and even then the temperature was slightly over 70 (turbo boost is on, stable 4.3 for all cores). Cooler in both cases Dipkul Assassin 2, MX-4 paste.
Cons
  • on Gigabyte z390 gaming x did not start right away, see comment
