Review on πŸ”§ 11" Steering Tie Rod Separator & Ball Joint Separator Pickle Fork for Auto Truck Maintenance - Ultimate Tool for Easy and Efficient Removal by Nick Henning

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good tool but came rusty

Price is ok could be better as it is only for 1 fork not for a set of 2, 3 or 4. I liked that these forks were a bit thick and beefy is how it looks Heavy Duty I will know how good it is and Heavy Duty when I start using it on the upper control arm of my machine that is the main reason I bought this tool. I appreciate that it was packaged in a plastic bag and boxed but the plug wasn't oiled so it was rusty in the bag it came in. As this plug is metal the seller could have coated it with a rust preventative to prevent rusting but it arrived dry and the plug became rusty when I unpacked it. I had to spray it with wd 40 and let it sit to remove the rust and wet the metal. I don't think this will affect tool performance, I will update once I start working on the upper arm and ball joint on my 05 Merc Grand Marquis. Seller Recommendations: These are anti-rust oils that the seller can apply to the tool to prevent the tool from rusting before selling it to customers. This helps with ratings and reviews. This is an edited review, turns out I didn't need to use this ball joint spacer when replacing the upper arm in the 05 Grand Marquis. My upper control lever popped out from under my feet with a simple push of my hand and knuckle. I find this tool is best used when you have a lot of rust and the parts appear to be stuck together, but since I live here in Phoenix the parts are really dry and come apart easily. I could return the tool for a refund as it hasn't been used, but I kept the tool just in case. This is one of those situations where having a tool ready and available is better than not having it when you need it.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
