Great when it works but crashes

First of all this thing is very cheap so you're a fool if you don't moderate your expectations properly. I only got this as a temporary solution. It actually handles audio quite well; decent power, sounds good. Screen real estate is almost entirely wasted by this super crappy fake equalizer animation dancing around the car, it's awful. No clock or other information - they could allocate twice as much space to show up-to-date information. Which would be handy since most MP3 metadata is about three paragraphs long for some reason. The real problem is that the software is buggy. About a third of the time I'm pressing the button, the device locks up and doesn't make any sounds or receive data until you DISCONNECT IT FROM THE HARNESS. No, turning the ignition off or turning it on and off again doesn't help. Staying the night doesn't help. You have to take it out of the dash and completely unplug the power connectors to get it working again. And it happens about every 3 times I try to skip a track on the SD card. So I basically let him sit and do his thing and have no control over what I hear. To be honest it would be too good if it remembered to set random mode between autostarts - it remembers a lot of things with auxiliary power, but you have to set random mode every time you get in the car, if you want it activated. , and of course I'm not going to roll the dice and disassemble my dashboard again. I can just attach a toggle switch to it so I can drop it back into place. Or just grab a 50W standalone amp and a Raspberry Pi and get ready for good. Oh sure, that figure of merit isn't RMS, which is to be expected at this price point - it's mostly a random number that should be subject to bogus advertising laws, but it's pretty powerful nonetheless. Maybe it would put out 50 watts per channel if struck by lightning.
