This is a good portable fan, but as other interviews said, it is not an air conditioner. On hot days, this will keep you cool enough as long as the fan is at arm's length. With water in the lower bowl and ice in the upper bowl, the atmosphere becomes bearable. Unlike an air conditioner that draws in hot air, it just blows cold air (with mist) at you. The battery lasts a long time which is a plus. The open bowl at the top makes it easy to reapply ice after it's melted. I personally use this fan on my deck, on my desk (at arm's length). I find this would be ideal for long drives where you need to stop for a while and don't want to leave your car running just to stay cool.
