I ordered this cutter because I liked the security feature. Also the good offer of this article convinced me to try this cutter and the blades. I immediately noticed that the straight blade was wobbly in the holder. I wasn't sure about using my new ruler as I could feel it tearing pieces off my acrylic quilting ruler every time I cut it. Cutting through 4 layers of fabric only worked with a lot of pressure on the cutter. The wavy blade (not the pink blade) was worse. If you try to tighten it, it won't twist or cut at all. If you loosen it enough in the cutter, it will spin to cut, but the blades (I've tried two of them) won't cut. The only way to separate the two sides is to go over them a few times and press very hard. I gave up and bought a quilting knife from one of the two big brands that starts with an O. It arrived today, and oh my god! no matter. The straight blade is very sharp and cuts through fabric - even 4 or more layers - without my intervention. It glides very well on the ruler and the cuts are very clean. Also fantastic is the blade for the pink blade of the same brand. Cuts the fabric you want to cut in one pass. All I want to say is if you use a fabric cutting knife frequently etc please make sure you have the right one. You don't have to press hard to cut through layers of fabric. Straight blade or pink blade. The cutter should feel secure in your hands, not like an obstacle. I figured I would save some money by purchasing it, but I'd rather save my hands and patience and invest some more money. I suggest you do the same.
