Review on KYB SM5206 - Mounting Kit by Ryan Frawley

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well but KYB shouldn't charge extra for the mount and it's quite expensive. Made in Taiwan

KYB shock mount fits perfectly, looks the same as original parts, works great but KYB shouldn't charge extra for it. And the bracket is expensive! I gave it 3 stars because of the high price, but if you can get it in stock for less than $10, it's 4 stars. I managed to get a mount from stock trades; I had to pay the regular price for the other one. Each kit is for one shock and costs around $20 unless you are lucky enough to find one in stock. Monroe has a different design than their shock absorbers. They just use a simple rubber bushing instead of the original mount, but more importantly, Monroe includes the hardware in their shocks!

Pros
  • Superior rubber reduces noise, vibration and harshness
Cons
  • not reliable
