Works in most cases. It took me a while to get the settings right. There were a couple of nights when he was overly sensitive and would show up randomly. This works well with my habit of turning on the shower with the door open so hot water flows through the pipes and goes to the toilet. As the hot water begins to mist up in my glass shower stall, the fan kicks on. The switch is about 4 feet from the shower. House of new construction. I like the timer and humidity settings. I basically set it to stay on for about 20 minutes, after which the switch would normally have turned the fan off due to humidity. My husband wakes up much earlier than I do, and by the time I'm ready to shower, the bathroom is already dry and no one has lifted a finger. Also good for smelly odors. All you have to do is manually turn on the fan and it will turn off after 20 minutes. Ideal for poostank evacuation. One star deducted because there are days when I have to manually press a button to turn it on. I would say that happens once or twice a month.
