Sure it helps to mix things up in your cocktail. However, the ingredients still tend to get stuck at the bottom of the tamper. BUT ATTENTION: DO NOT WASH IN THE DISHWASHER! I did it once and the water got stuck in the metal part and every time I shook it or tried to crush something some water came out. I use my old one instead.
